From the frontispiece: "A comprehensive guide to the proper care of the human body with detailed directions for the prevention and treatment of disease, including scientific methods for building dynamic, powerful health and attaining a symmetrical, beautiful body. Arranged for easy reading, classified for immediate reference." While some of the information presented is now outdated, much of it is still relevant today, and it is very interesting to compare what was thought in 1940 to what is thought today. Writers, researchers, and many others will find this a useful reference book.
Condition: Good. Cover is worn on edges of spine and at corners, but gilt is still present on spine. Gilt on front cover is slightly greenish around the edges (see photo), but present. Bas-relief on cover is still excellent, design is clear and sharp. White specks of some substance (paint?) is splattered on front cover. Interior pages have some slight water stains on the edges of the first few pages, and some chips on the topmost edge; otherwise they are clean and intact, unmarked, although yellowed with normal aging.
