DESCRIPTION

A little tired but so very rare.

Last seen at auction in 1970.

It details the local history of Cheshire during the civil war of 1642-1651. The siege of Chester occurred over a 16 month period. The city was damaged but in varying degrees.

Broster explores the role that Chester played and the extent to which it impacted everyday life. People are at the centre of this account.

This copy includes one map, a list of list of people who attended the assembly at Common-hall and 6 intricate vignettes showing how the city of Chester changed during this period. Collated complete.


CONDITION

Bound in a quarter cloth binding. The reinforced backstrip has split. Bumping to the extremities resulting in loss to the corners. Internally binding tender in places. The first few pages spotted with significant age toning but pages are generally bright and clean. Pages rough cut.
