This is a very rare early transferware pitcher jug. Dates to the late 1830s to early 1840s. It is in a pattern I am not familiar with (which says a lot in that I have about 30 years of specialization with early transferware). It is a two color, bi color transfer with black and brown. The pattern is called "Man and Hounds". Maker is unknown. It has a black transfer with a different view of the hunters, drinking and smoking, on each side. The front has a brown transfer of a hare or rabbit. Instead of a makers mark on the bottom, the bottom has another scene and marked "Man and Hounds". The jug has a hexagonal form with molded shell shaped pattern under spout. Beautiful and rare early bi color transferware pitcher jug. Antique. Over 175 years old. Condition is good for age. There are 3 minor small chip / flakes along the upper rim and spout (last 3 pics show all 3). No other chips, cracks, or repairs. Typical crazing. Some minor wear and scratches typical for age and use. There may be typical in-the-making imperfections like stilt marks, sand grit loss, glaze bubbles that may be noticed. Beautiful rare pattern that is over 175 year old. Must have for the transferware collector, as when will you see another. Measures about 8" tall at top of handle. Guaranteed old and dating to the 1830s, 1840s of the 19th Century. Look at pics as they are considered part of the description. Shipping total includes insurance, confirmation. BID WITH CONFIDENCE .
