15 forts volumes in-4 (27,5 X 21,5 cm), pleine basane du temps (reliure Empire), dos lisse ornés (petit manque à la coiffe inférieure du tome 13, bas du tome 14 arraché,), frottements, des épidermures, coins usés, rousseurs éparses, bon état intérieur, bon exemplaire solide et à grandes marges.

Merlin de Douai (1754-1838) natif dArleux fait partie de ces grands jurisconsultes qui exercèrent pendant la révolution et lempire.Il fit partie de lassemblée nationale constituante de 1789-1791, fut député du nord à la convention nationale, vota pour la mort du roi, défendit en tant quavocat des hommes célèbres tels Beaumarchais ou le président Dupaty.

Le répertoire de Merlin représente dans la première moitié du 19° siècle louvrage de droit de référence.

Merlin avait refondu entièrement le répertoire de Guyot de lancien régime en y apportant toutes les modifications nouvelles et réactualisées.
