Antique Jacquard Coverlet, Overshot Indigo Blue and White Wool
Presenting a antique 1850 jacquard overshot loomed coverlet,woven in deep indigo blue and white wool and cotton. 19th century New York orPennsylvania overshot woven jacquard coverlet with vivid geometric motifs. Madeof natural undyed cotton and indigo blue wool, with center seam with a softwool fibers. It is reversible and has fringes on the three sides and one side turned under. Purchased at a Upstate New York farmhouse estate auction.
This unsigned woven coverlet is in very good original condition with no fading, no color bleeding, and no repairs and no holes.There are a few brown oxidation storage spots scattered about that can be seen on the white cotton area. Probably never having been washed, it was most likely used on special occasions and spent most of its life stored to be handed down to the next generation. Yet the fibers are strong and in sturdy condition.
